We again spent our Christmas with Mom in Mississippi. We left on December 18 and arrived the next afternoon after driving through the night. We were truly surprised that we were able to see Mom again. We did not think that we would see her again when we left last January due to the advanced stage of her Parkinson's disease. Yet she continues to amaze us. We enjoyed Christmas with her and the entire family. Nathan's brother and sister-in-law from Texas were able to join us. All we lacked was Kelly and Nathan's niece who lives in Texas who both had to work.
We did have some adventure on the 11th. Tornado warnings had us out of bed very early that morning. We quickly realized that we were not in the direct line of the storms and went back to bed. Yet two tornadoes tore through the county that morning damaging over 200 homes. Despite all the damage, there were only a couple of minor injuries reported. Praise God for His protection of life during that storm. The final week in Mississippi, Nathan made a bunk bed for his niece and her 4-year-old daughter, His niece was sleeping on an air mattress on the floor while her daughter had a toddler bed. She could not afford to buy a bed. Our final night, they were able to enjoy sleeping in their new bed.
