After a wonderful summer of working with mission teams and churches and church plants, we needed some rest. We chose to go camping in Montana. The Boulder River on the edge of the Absaroka Beartooth wilderness became our temporary home for several days. We had a friend who recently moved there to become the executive director of a camp up there and it would give us a chance to visit with him as well. We enjoyed hiking, picking wild raspberries, exploring, and visiting with our friends. It was just what we needed after a busy summer.

This past week was Rodeo Bible Camp in Big Piney, Wyoming. There were 15 kids that came from Wyoming and Idaho to further their rodeo skills and to learn more about the Bible. We again served as camp cooks serving an average of 30 people per meal. But we had plenty of time to watch the rodeo clinics and enjoy the camp. The week wrapped up with a rodeo Thursday afternoon to showcase their skills and to award the winners buckles. This is always a fun week for us. We apologize for this late update. We have had internet problems and this past week, we did not take our computer with us. But last week was a great time. For the 5th and last year, West Conroe Baptist Church of Texas and Outdoor Life Ministries partnered together to host Adventure Camp and to do various projects throughout the area. It has been a great partnership. This year Adventure Camp had 75 kids registered with a high of 69 in attendance on Wednesday. The kids went to numerous stations throughout the day- Bible, missions, crafts, recreation, music, snack and bounce house, and adventure stations. Wednesday was water day and the local fire department stopped by to add to the fun. One kid made a profession of faith that week and numerous seeds were planted. Others worked on various projects around the area including remodeling a bathroom, prepped to put a metal roof on a house, painting at Teen Challenge, and doing some cleaning in houses and yards. Thursday night was Free Community BBQ. The kids from Adventure Camp performed some songs. There was the bounce house, snow cones, and the ever popular water slide. And of course there was a free BBQ meal. |
